I proudly joined the staff at Saint Patrick School in 2002. My dream of being a teacher did not become a reality until I was in my forties. After working as a para-professional in the Walled Lake School District for twelve years, helping students who struggled with reading and math, my husband encouraged me to go back to school and become a teacher. I was forty-six and a grandmother when I finally finished my degree. I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education with a Math Major and a Language Arts Minor from Oakland University.

After teaching Third Grade for nine years I moved to Middle School and now love teaching math to the Middle School students. I bring a lifetime of experiences to the classroom. I am passionate about teaching math and am energized every time a student has an “aha” moment.

I have been married to my wonderful husband for more than forty years. We raised three sons and enjoy every moment we spend with our six teenaged grandchildren. When I am not with students, I love to spend time with my family, read and travel. I have had some remarkable experiences and am always amazed by the splendor of the world God has given us.

The motto in my classroom is "You can’t just do math, you have to think math."

Howdy! I was born and raised in Texas, but my family has deep roots in Michigan. Continuing a family tradition, I attended Michigan State University, where I met my wonderful wife Sara. We have two young sons, Peter and Joseph, who are a great joy and blessing, and constantly keep us on our toes! After graduation, we spent some time in Texas, where I have taught in my home school district for the past four years. We are delighted to come back home to beautiful Michigan to stay, and join the St. Patrick School family.

I have had the distinct privilege of being involved in various religious education and catechetical ministries since high school, including interning as the youth minister for St. John Student Parish at Michigan State. I understand teaching to be a vocation, not just an occupation, and I love studying and helping others learn the Catholic faith. When I am not in the classroom, you can usually find me with my nose in a theology book or thinking of increasingly elaborate reasons my wife needs to buy another bookcase. Our family also enjoys music, hiking, biking, camping, and being out in God’s wonderful creation.

One of my favorite scripture verses is John 17:3

And this is eternal life, that they know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent.
